Key Environmental Services

The Environmental Management Division of ILISO is fully acquainted with, amongst others, the specific application of the requirements of the Environmental Conservation Act ( Act 73 of 1989), the National Environmental Management Act (No 107 of 1998), the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998), the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act (No 28 of 2002); amendments to these Acts, the regulations thereof and the process required by government to adhere to. Specialist skills and supportive services within ILISO and associated companies enable the environmental management team to conduct both minor and major environmental assignments, including :

• Integrated Environmental Management (IEM) in general;
• Environmental Impact Assessment Plans (EIA's);
• Environmental Management Plans (EMPs);
• Environmental monitoring and auditing;
• Registration and Licensing of water users;
• Assessing water requirements for basic human needs and riverine ecology;
• Determining stream-flow assimilative capacity for pollution loads;
• Water quality guidelines and management plans;
• Industrial wastewater treatment and disposal;
• Social Impact Assessments (SIAs);
• Public participation and consultation.
